Privacy
The short version: we use your email to send you the events you pick, with no more than 6 area alerts a month and 2 a week unless you choose otherwise. Alerts from instructors you follow are not counted. We never sell or share it. Every email has a link to stop, and you can delete everything about you with one tap.
What we keep
For people who dance: your email, the instructors and kinds of events you picked, your reminder choices, an optional first and last name (shown to the instructors you follow so they know who you are), and an optional ZIP code (never a street address), used to send events within the distance you choose (15, 30 or 50 miles, or any distance; 30 miles to start). The calendar also remembers your last place filter in one small cookie on your own device, which holds only a ZIP and a distance. If you ask to back up a song, we also keep the name and songs you give. Ratings you give are stored without your name attached to what you wrote when we show them to instructors.
For instructors: name, email, a short profile, the dated record that you accepted the instructor terms and the confidentiality agreement, and your posts, featured spots you take or are given, the short reason a host gives if the host cannot feature you (only the kind of reason is shown to you), and whether hosts would have you back (a private count only you see). A profile can also hold an optional photo, a fun fact, and what you say you are licensed or trained to teach, with the year and a link to your instructor page. We do not check licenses on our own. If you give an ID or a link, a person may look it up and mark it checked, and your page then says so; otherwise the public page says they are listed by the instructor. A photo is checked by a person before it shows, is cut to a square and rewritten so hidden data such as a location tag is dropped, and you can remove it at any time. If other people are in it, you confirm they agreed. A 6-digit sign-in code, if you use one, is kept only as a scrambled value for ten minutes.
Instructors who sign in can see other instructors' audience sizes (followers, and people who joined through a link) as ranges such as 10 to 24, never names or emails, and an instructor can turn this off on their profile. If you set a distance on your picks page, we use your ZIP to decide which events to email you about.
If you open your page from an email link or with the 6-digit code, this phone keeps one small signed cookie (lv_me, six months) so your page opens next time; the Sign out of this phone button on your page removes it. The code is kept only as a scrambled value for ten minutes.
For everyone: we count how many times the home-screen icon is opened and installed, as daily totals only, with nothing about any person. Your own device keeps a few small settings in its browser storage and never sends them to us: your text size, whether you closed the install reminder, how many times you visited (to time that reminder), and the last day you opened the app.
Children
This site is for adults and families. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should sign up for you. We do not knowingly keep a child's email on our own.
What we never do
We never sell your email or share it. Instructors you follow see your name and counts, never your email or phone number. We do not collect anyone's age. We do not use advertising trackers. The site sets one small cookie that keeps you signed in or protects a form; it is not used to follow you.
Who helps us
A sending service delivers our email. When an instructor uses the flyer reader, the flyer picture is sent to an AI service that reads it so the instructor does not have to type it. Notifications, if you turn them on, go through your browser's own push service. Our pages load one font family (Lexend) from Google Fonts, so Google can see your device's address when a page loads.
How long we keep it
Sign-ups you do not confirm are deleted after 14 days. If you do not open or click anything for 90 days we ask if you still want these, and pause them if you do not answer. You can delete everything about you at any time from the bottom of your picks page, and it happens at once. Ask a person for anything else.
Backups are kept for 14 days, so a deleted person's old data can sit in a backup until it ages out. A person who unsubscribes or deletes is remembered only as an address we must not email again.
